Heeyeun Yoon, the director of Landscape Planning & Design Lab, is an associate professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Rural Systems Engineering at the College of Agriculture and Life Science, Seoul National University. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Seoul National University, Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctoral degree from Harvard University. 

Educated and trained as a landscape architect in Korea and the U.S. (registered in Pennsylvania State), she has worked for Wallace Roberts & Todd, LLC (based in Philadelphia) and James Corner Field Operations, LLC (based in New York), and has participated in a variety of landscape and urban design projects. Closely observing the power of landscape projects in revitalizing declined urban neighborhoods during her practice, she pursued her doctoral study to research socioeconomic effects of urban parks and open spaces. Currently, she extended her research scope to the assessment of the diverse impacts of climate change, the analysis of factors inducing the success and failure of retail districts, the detection/management of abandoned rural farmlands, and many more.
