Yunwon Choi (Spring 2020 - present)

Yunwon Choi is a postdoctoral researcher. Her research focuses on environmental planning, green infrastructure, healthy cities, and public policy assessment. She received a Ph.D in engineering from Seoul National University in 2020 (advisor: Professor Heeyeun Yoon), a Master of Landscape Architecture from University of California-Berkeley in 2013 and Bachelor of Fine Art in Scenic Design from Pennsylvania State University in 2010. Prior to joining SNU in 2015, she also worked for SWA Group in Sausalito as a landscape architect. She has published variety of works in Cities, International journal of environmental research and public health, Accident Analysis and Prevention, Habitat International, The Annals of Regional Science, Journal of Korea Planning Association and Journal of the Korean Institute of Landscape Architecture. She also won the 2018 Best Paper Award from the Seoul Institute.

Hee Jin Yang (Fall 2018 - February 2020)

Hee Jin Yang is a postdoctoral researcher. Her research concerns land use planning, housing development, and policy impact assessment. As an urban planner, her long-term goal is to develop an understanding of the role of land-use regulation and urban policy and to work to improve it through sustainability initiatives. She holds her PhD and Master of Urban Planning from Seoul National University (SNU), and received a Bachelor of Architecture at SNU. She previously served as a Visiting Fellow of Economics at Harvard University and a research assistant at the Real Estate Academic Initiatives. She is currently a lecturer at University of Seoul. Prior to joining the Landscape Architecture Planning and Design Lab, she worked in the field of housing policy and affordable housing developments in Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Danya Kim (Fall 2018 - May 2019)

Danya Kim is a postdoctoral researcher. Her research focuses on urban and regional economics, happiness, non-market amenities, environment planning, and public policy. She has published a variety of works in Urban Studies, Landscape and Urban Planning, and Journal of Korea Planning Association. Also, she won the best paper awards in 2015 and 2016 at the Seoul Institute and in 2017 at the Gyeonggi Research Institute. Currently, she is examining how natural disasters affect regional population change and economies. Danya Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and Engineering from Yonsei University, a master’s degree in Environmental Planning at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Seoul National University, and a PhD in Planning and Landscape Architecture at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Soyoun Kim (Spring 2018 - July 2019)

Soyoun Kim is a doctoral level researcher.  Currently, she has participated in a research project, "A research for the establishment of a platform for abandoned land management, using remote sensing and big-data analysis", analyzing satellite images to develop an algorithm detecting abandoned farmland. She finished her master study in Environmental Ecology Lab of Seoul National University, her master thesis was on how spatial resolution influences the detection and attribution of extreme reduction in gross primary productivity. Prior to her graduate study, she worked in Deloitte Korea as a real estate business analyst conducting several projects; S company Ecopark project and D university theme park project. She received her B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture with an honor of Cum Laude from Seoul National University. Her research interests include understanding ecological information of land surface by integrating observations and modeling. She has various skills of analysis tools such as MATLAB, python, and ArcGIS.
